After a hugely sucessful Girl Geek dinners in August and December, we're super-pleased to announce that nti's Linda Broughton and Carbon Imagineering's Imran Ali will be hosting Leeds' third Girl Geek Dinner on Thursday 12th March 2009, again at the lovely The Loft Leeds!

The evening will be informal, friendly and chilled. For just £15, you can enjoy some drinks, nibbles and the chance to hang out with the city's brightest creatives, technologists, programmers, entrepreneurs, marketeers, PR professionals and creative & digital girls - yeh yeh, we'll have a smattering of boys too ;)

the evening's speakers will include...

lucy wurstlin; is the new Digital Commissioning Manager for 4iP in the Yorkshire and Humber. 4iP is a major new initiative announced as part of Channel 4's Next on 4 strategic Lucy Wurstlinblueprint. A collaboration between Channel 4, regional development agencies and funding partners from around the UK, 4iP will invest up to £50m to stimulate public service digital media (beyond television). In plain English, that means supporting great ideas from existing and new talent throughout the UK, for websites, games and mobile services which help people improve their lives. Lucy has worked in a digital and creative sector development capacity for over 15 years most recently as Director of the Melt investment programme in South Yorkshire working with Channel 4, BBC and Orange and as Creative Industries Development Manager for SWRDA.

emma mcgrattan; is the Senior Vice President of Engineering at Ingres. She is responsible for the development and integration of the Ingres database and associated products and technologies. A leading authority in DBMS technologies, Emma has been instrumental in Emma McGrattanthe ongoing success of the Ingres product line. Emma joined Ingres from CA where she held a similar position and was responsible for the Ingres family of relational database management products. She started her career with Ingres in 1992, and has held a variety of senior development and management positions.

Not only a talented engineer and manager, Emma is also a great communicator as transpires from her blog and many speaking appearances. Balancing intelligence with humor, she is known to have been referred to as a "firecracker" at more than one instance.

Born in Ireland, Emma earned a Bachelor of Electronic Engineering from Dublin City University. Recognized for having open source development at heart, she is also a member of the board of directors for the Eclipse Foundation.
